Extension Ideas... invited

The best thing I like about Firefox is that you can program it ('program' as in the literal sense of 'programme'). You want to extend it's functionality? Get an extension. You want to reduce its functionality get another extension. You want it to look different? Get a theme.

I'd like to quote some of the most useful extensions to me. I'm a developer and thus I have more of development extensions but that apart, I have refspoof, it would sometimes let me browse protected directories and at other times will protect me from unwanted trackers (some websites simply track the referer and can even track your email address if you navigate to their like from within an email). Cooliris Previews lets you browse the web within a single window and tab. Its easy on the browser and you... won't have to track 10000 tabs all at once (don't bother with the figures). Autocomplete Manager is another one of my favourites. Do you care to and possibly remember and track your bookmarks? All the hours of research goes to waste if you simply can't get back to the link you visited once. This one makes life easier to you. Amongst other things, it will autocomplete your address bar with your bookmarks. ColorfulTabs and CuteMenus2 for obvious reasons are at the top of my list.

That was about my favourites and I'm sure everyone has a favourites list. But what if you want some feature/functionality and don't find an extension for it. Well this post is about it.

An extension for everyone... and If there is none... make yourself one. But not everyone programs extensions. Some are not programmers, others simply can live without it. Yet others can't for some reason or the other.

What didn't you find? Do you have an idea that can be turned into an extension? If it is a feature that will help the masses, will satisfy my creative urge and if and only if I feel motivated I'd eagerly put all aside and work on the idea.

Ideas are the centerpiece of creativity. Let's see how creative we can get. Post your comments... I'm watching...

The 2.0.3 release

The feedback for version 2.0.2 was hughe and very motivating. Thanks to all for that.

Memory leaks is an issue that has been haunting the mozillian browsers. And as a disciplined developer I strive hard to implement industry standard coding practices in my programs. I had received feedback about memory leaks in version 2.0.2 and thus decided to issue minor fixes in this release. Also you'll now find some advanced options (which are not so advanced) at the moment. Use them carefully as they may even make the title of the tab invisible. Keep the feedback coming. The extension grows on that.

ColorfulTabs v2.0.2 released.

After much anticipation ColorfulTabs v2.0.2 has been released. There are quite a few enhancements as well as some major bug fixes.

ColorfulTabs has been modified to fix compatibility issues with Tab Mix plus and Fasterfox.
ColorfulTabs uses new algorithms to color the tabs.
There are more customisation options to suite ColorfulTabs to your taste.
We have included a first-run experience so as to induct users to the changes in the extension and for usage.

ColorfulTabs 2.0 Released

Deal All,

I'm pleased to announce the release of version 2.0 of my popular extension ColorfulTabs. Which you can download from the link above.
Some of the prominent changes:

1) tab fading
2) coloring of individual tabs
3) Enhanced looks
4) Reorganized entire code for better functioning and understanding.

Please feel free to post your opinion and findings. I'm now open to feature requests. (This was long pending :)
